We are a Montessori school based in the Suburbs of Mumbai. Our journey in education started in 2014 with our Montessori based Summer Camps.
Our method of teaching is based on the philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori who believed that the education of a small child does not aim to prepare him for school, but for life.
We believe that children between the age of 2 to 6 years needs to be thought skills that will help him be independent and activate his natural desire to learn. We strive to create an environment that encourages the child to choose for himself, to free his potential and get him ready for the world.
What We Do
Our Classroom is designed for children between the ages of 2 years to 5 years. The curriculum is divided into four working areas:
These are activities that aim to teach the child care of themself , others and of the physical environment where they live in. These activities include tasks that are familiar to the child: washing, pouring, folding, using a spoon, etc. They also include activities of "grace and courtesy". These activities help develop the childs coordination, fine and gross motor skills, control of movement and exploration of their surroundings. These task help the child to develop their will, self-discipline, the capacity of concentration and self-confidence.
Children learn through their senses more than through their intellect. The sensorial materials are tools for children to refine each of their senses. Each material isolates a specific quality: smell, size, weight, texture, flavour, colour, etc. These materials allow them to develop their sense of order, perception and observation.
These materials help child enrich their language that they are acquiring. They learn the sounds of the letters of the alphabet using their senses (hearing and touching), and as a natural consecquence they learn to read. As an extension of language activities, children learn about geography, history, art and music. This teaches them to respect and love their environment, and they create a sense of solidarity with all humanity.
These materials help the child to learn and understand mathematical concepts when working with concrete materials that lead them naturally to abstract concepts. They offer them a sensorial impressions of the numbers and set the foundations for further mathematics.
Understanding Montessori
Montessori is truly child-centred learning. It is an approach about understanding and aiding the child's natural process of growth and learning. The Montessori Method developed by Dr. Maria Montessori is built on scientific observations of children. It’s a methodology that values development of the whole child: physical, emotional, cognitive and social needs. The monetessori environment is child centred. The child learns through hands on learning process according to the childs interest and pace. The role of the teacher in this environment is to guide the child through his developmental process and not to control him. The teacher gives the child one on one attention based on the childs needs. New material is presented to the child dependant on his learning pace. It is a mixed age group environment, so that the child has the ability to learn from his peers and feel responsible for those who are younger than him. The child in this atmosphere chooses work following his passion and his learning pace. The montessori material are self correcting, this helps the child discover on his own where he has gone wrong. Repetition of work is reinforced so that the child can achieve internal satisfaction and a feeling of success.
